Chippewa County Fair Executives & Board Members

The Chippewa County Fair Board is excited for you to experience all that has been planned for this years fair. We have many members from communities throughout Chippewa County that attend Board Meetings and we welcome more to join!
We would like to say, "Thank You!" to all of the volunteers and members who have put in hundreds of hours planning and getting the grounds ready for this years fair.

We would also like to take a minute to thank Kurt, Sandi, Carmen and Sue for the endless hours of work they put into running the Fair Board.

In memory of Dale Mooney

Dale Wayne Mooney, a member of the Chippewa County Fair Board and the fairs groundskeeper for 27 years,
passes away August 12, 2022.

Dale was born in Montevideo, and graduated from Granite Falls  High School in 1963.
He grew up working on his family farm. Dale was a Army Veteran having completed advanced training as a military policeman in Fort Gordon, GA, and was stationed in
White Sands, NM until he
 deployed to Vietnam.
 He was a volunteer promotor for the Fiesta City Speed
way, drove bus for the City of Montevideo, was a part-time job coach for Heartland Industries, and was the groundskeeper for the Chippewa County Fairgrounds.

He made many lifelong friendships along the way.

Dale was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Montevideo, was involved with Ducks Unlimited, was a fishing derby volunteer, member of both the American Legion Post 59 and VFW Post 380, a Special Olympics coach, Fiesta City Speedway Board Member, and Chippewa County Fair Board Member.

Dale is survived by his daughter Jeanna (Nathan) Schmidt of Montevideo; grandchildren Morgan, Chase & Leighton Schmidt, Brother Danny (Rosalene) Mooney of Granite Falls, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dale is also survived by special friend Stacey Hoidal of Montevideo, and her children Quinn and Mackenzie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, half-sisters Jean Cleveland and Shirley Weingartner, and niece Julia Hadrath.


The Chippewa County Fair Executives & Board Members send our deepest condolences to the friends and family members of Dale.
He is truly misses and not a moment goes by without memories of him.
